History of Pink Fluorite
Fluorite comes from the Latin fluere, meaning “to flow.” It’s one of the lesser known gemstones in metaphysical circles, but one you will want to get to know.
Pink Fluorite is a rare healing gemstone from the Halide mineral family. Pink Fluorite didn’t really get popular for healing in the until the 1800’s when it was discovered for its calming energy.
However, Fluorite has been used for centuries in China for ornate decorations, and Ancient Egyptians and Romances have used Fluorite to carve scarabs and other decorations.
There is strength in fragility and it’s gentle, calming energy is great for our modern, hectic lives.
Pink is one of the rarest colors for Fluorite, but it’s one of my favorites. The beautiful glow and unique, feminine color- ranging from light pink to magenta, are hard to forget. One of the really cool properties of Fluorite is it’s fluorescence. It can glow in the dark after being exposed to UV light!

How to Tell if Your Pink Fluorite is Real
Pink Fluorite is only a 4 on the Mohs scale, which is very soft (much like Selenite). So it’s pretty easy to tell if it’s been swapped with something more common, like Quartz. Very few gemstones are as soft as Fluorite, so if you can’t scratch it then it’s likely Quartz or plastic. Also, fake Pink Fluorite will usually be lighter, because despite its softness, it tends to be quite heavy.
The best way to avoid fake Pink Fluorite is to buy from a reputable crystal dealer, or to go to a mineral show.
How to Care For Your Pink Fluorite
Be careful with your Pink Fluorite, as it’s very fragile and can chip and break easily. While you can safely use it in elixirs and water manifesting, for regular care you will want to just lightly dust and wash it.
Try to keep out of direct sunlight and submerging in water. Cleanse it by smudging, or setting your intention under a full moon.
